我是做翻译的，对国内翻译行业和翻译教育比较关注

目前国内笔译行业很不规范，管理比较混乱，从业者水平良莠不齐，优秀的笔译月入12000+ 问题不大，我读师范计算机做过几年计算机教师，后来一直在做笔译工作，我自己在翻译行业从业 6年，目前收入 12000 ---15000（工作地点：江西吉安），这个收入对中年人确实是比较低的，如果你做笔译要有这样的心理准备，要能接受这样的落差，毕竟软件工程、微电子等行业从业6年以上的，只要做的还可以，月收入30000 元以上较为普遍；
从职业稳定性看，学翻译或者英语，做教师是更好的出路，特别是对女孩子而言；笔译的辛苦不是一般人能扛得住，并且职业笔译要生存下去要求也非常高，CATTI 2 证书或相当能力者入门基本没什么问题的，这个考试含金量比较高，人事部将其定位为中级，职业笔译还需学习各种行业背景知识、Trados\memoQ\SDLX\X-Bench 等多种翻译管理工具和辅助软件，还需要大量实践去提高自己的翻译素养和水平

现在确实有些学校在本科阶段就已开设翻译专业了，比如北外、川外、上外等院校；翻译已从外语学科中独立为一个单独学科；中国第一位翻译学博士前几年也从上外毕业，注意是翻译学，而不是所谓的“翻译理论与实践”等.....

英语和翻译都属于就业一般的专业，在多数学校，这两个专业的培养上大同小异

英语专业的毕业生这几年很多不容易就业或者难找到比较好的工作，因为几乎所有大学都可以开这样的专业，绝大多数学校英语这块培养能力不行，毕业生的专业技能比较低，难以满足市场用人需求；现在普通院校的英语或者翻译硕士起薪多在 4000 -- 7000 元/月，不大好混
当然，如果能考入北外/上外/对外经贸大学/外交学院/北大/复旦/武汉大学/厦门大学等这类英语实力强的学校，还是会有不错收获的，就业自然比较好
