I hear America singing,the varied carols I hear,
我听见美国在歌唱，歌谣各式各样。
Those of mechanics,each one singing his as it should be blithe and strong,
机修工们在歌唱，每个人都在唱着快乐雄壮的歌。
The carpenter singing his as he measures his plank or beam,
木匠们在歌唱，一边测量木板和横梁。
The mason singing his as he makes ready for work,or leaves off work,
泥瓦匠们在歌唱，准备妥当去工作，或者收工要回家。
The boatman singing what belongs to him in his boat,the deck hand singing on the steamboat deck,
船夫在歌唱，就唱这木船上属于他的一切，还有船员在蒸汽船的甲板上唱。
The shoemaker singing as he sits on his bench,the hatter singing as he stands,
鞋匠们在长凳上坐着唱，帽匠们站着唱。
The woodcutter's song,the ploughboy's on his way in the morning,or at noon intermission or at sundown,
伐木工和耕童也一路唱，无论是早上，午间休息还是日落时分。
The delicious singing of the mother,or of the young wife at work,or of the girl sewing or washing,
母亲们唱着动听的歌曲，少妇们一边工作一边唱，姑娘们缝纫洗衣时也要唱。
Each singing what belongs to him or her and to none else,
每个人都在唱着只属于他们自己的歌。
The day what belongs to the day——at night the party of young fellows,robust,friendly
白天有白天的歌，晚间则是年轻人的聚会，充满友情和活力。

Trees 树
I think that I shall never see 我想我从未见过一首
A poem lovely as a tree. 美如玉树的诗章。
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest 一棵张着饥饿嘴巴的树，
against the earth's sweet flowing breast; 紧压在大地甘美而流畅的乳房上；
A tree that looks at God all day, 一棵整天望着神的树，
And lifts her leafy arms to pray; 举起枝叶繁茂的手臂来祈祷；
A tree that may in summer wear 一棵树在夏日里可能
A nest of robins in her hair; 戴着一窝知更鸟在头发上；
Upon whose bosom snow has lain; 雪花堆积在她的怀抱里；
Who intimately lives with the rain. 雨水也和她亲切地生活在一起。
Poems are made by fools like me, 像我这样愚笨的人可以做诗，
But only God can make a tree. 但唯有神方能造树。
Where Go The Boats? 小船驶到那里了？
Dark brown is the river, 黑褐色的河流，
Golden is the sand. 金黄色的沙丘
It floats along forever, 沿着树的两边
With trees on either hand. 它永远在漂流。
Green leaves a-floating, 绿叶在水上漂流，
Castles of the foam, 泡沫造成的城堡，
Boats of mine a-floating--- 我的船在水上漂浮，
Where will all come home? 那里才是归途？
On goes the river 河水继续地流着

Humpty Dumpty
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses,
And all the king's men,
Couldn't put Humpty together again.
