state和nation的区别
state、nation和country都可以指国家，即国家是由国土、人民（民族）、文化和政府四个要素组成的，国家也是政治地理学名词。从广义的角度，国家是指拥有共同的语言、文化、种族、血统、领土、政府或者历史的社会群体。从狭义的角度，国家是一定范围内的人群所形成的共同体形式。这三个字的侧重点是不一样的。
state指的是一个国家的政治或政府组织，即国家机器。也可以用the body politic来表示国家机器。state还可指某国国内的行政单位，如美国的五十个州，称为fifty states。
nation强调的是某国的居民及其文化或种族背景，即民族。
country指的是世界所划分成的主要政治单位，即一个国家的版图或疆域。
country指国家时,侧重疆土或人口, 又作“乡下”讲。state指国家时,侧重政体、政府,也可指组成国家的“州”。
